Launched in 1994 as ETV, it was one of Sri Lanka’s first privately owned television channels.In March of 2018, ETI Finance Limited was sold and it was bought by Singapore-based wealth management company, Blue Summit Capital Management Pte. Limited and Ben Holdings (Pvt) Limited, a company that is based in Sri Lanka.
ITN is a Sri Lankan government-governed television and radio broadcaster located in Battaramulla, Sri Lanka. They have also owned the ITN FM radio channel. ITN was founded on June 5, 1979 (42 years ago).

The channel was officially launched by President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the head priest of the Asgiriya chapter in Sri Lanka.
